Soli Jehangir Sorabjee, one of India’s top most jurists who stood out for individual’s liberty and freedom of Press, as enshrined in the Constitution, passed away on April 30 due to Covid-19. He was 91.
Sorabjee with a seven decade distinguished experience as a lawyer of eminance and respect had served India as Attorney General twice during 1989-90 and 1998-2004.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Justice of India N V Ramana and several top lawyers including Kapil Sibal remembered Sorabjee , paying rich tributes to him.
He earned himself a title of the ‘Champion ‘ of Press Freedom and his independent stand on several issues of importance to individual liberty.
